Classification of graphite electrode materials

There is no clear definition yet regarding whether carbon products are referred to as carbon graphite “materials” or carbon graphite “products”. To refer to “material” in a broader sense, in terms of product material, it is appropriate to refer to “material” for the same type of product rather than a specific one. The term “product” is more narrow, specific, and commercialized

For specific products, they are referred to as “finished products”.

There is currently no strict and authoritative clear classification standard for carbon graphite materials and products. According to whether the arrangement structure of carbon atoms in materials or products is crystalline or amorphous, they can be divided into carbon materials and products and graphite materials and products; According to the purpose of the material or product, it can be divided into general

Using carbon graphite materials and products, as well as special carbon graphite materials and products.

(1) Classify according to the particle size of the constituent materials.

① Coarse grained graphite electrode material. Generally, the maximum particle size of its solid raw materials is greater than 1mm, such as graphite electrodes, pre baked anodes, carbon blocks, etc.

② Fine grained graphite electrode material. Generally, the maximum particle size of its solid raw materials is 0.25-1mm, such as small charcoal sticks.

③ Fine structured or ultra-fine structured graphite electrode materials. The solid raw materials for this type of material are all fine powder, with a general particle size not exceeding 75m. When producing high-strength and high-density graphite electrode materials, ultrafine powder is used, with a powder particle size of about 10m, and even smaller than 2um or at the nanoscale.
